Searches for “male fertility supplement” and “supplements for sperm health” return hundreds of products, many with bold promises on the front of the box. Because sperm take roughly 72–90 days to develop, picking the wrong one doesn’t just cost money — it costs a full cycle of trying. Here are the seven checks our care team suggests running on any men’s formula, including our own AGO Dad, before you buy.
The 7 label checks
- A full ingredient panel you can read. Every ingredient and amount should be listed. If a brand won’t show you the label before you buy, move on. (Our care team sends a photo of the AGO Dad label on request.)
- Serving size that matches a 90-day plan. Work out how many bottles cover roughly three months at the labeled dose. A “cheap” bottle that lasts two weeks is not cheap.
- Who makes it and where. Look for a named manufacturer, country of origin and quality information such as GMP manufacturing — not just a logo.
- No hormones or “testosterone booster” positioning. Testosterone therapy itself is well known to suppress sperm production, so products marketed mainly as T-boosters deserve a conversation with a doctor before you use them while trying to conceive. See sperm health after stopping testosterone.
- No guarantees. “Doubles sperm count,” “guaranteed pregnancy” or “100% results” are red flags. Legitimate supplements say they are designed to support wellness — and carry an FDA disclaimer.
- Medication check. If he takes any prescription medication, have a pharmacist review the label for interactions first.
- Real support after you buy. Can you reach a person with questions about dosage, shipping to the US or Canada, or combining products? If not, that tells you something.
Red flags worth walking away from
- Before-and-after semen numbers presented as typical results.
- Countdown timers and “only 3 left” pressure on a product you’ll take for months.
- Proprietary blends that hide every amount.
- Claims that a supplement fixes varicocele, blockages or azoospermia — those need a urologist.
Plan a fair 90-day trial
A checklist only helps if you can judge the result. Before starting:
| Step | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Get a baseline semen analysis | Without one, “is it working” is a guess — see when a supplement shows up in a semen analysis |
| Buy enough for ~90 days | One bottle stops before a full sperm cycle — see the 90-day bottle guide |
| Fix the basics in parallel | Heat, smoking, alcohol and sleep all matter — see heat and smoking |
| Recheck with the doctor around day 90 | Compare against baseline and decide together |
Where AGO Dad and Sea Oyster fit
AGO Dad is our men’s formula designed to support sperm health and male reproductive wellness, with a readable label and a 90-day plan. Some men add AGO Sea Oyster for zinc-rich support of male vitality — compare both in AGO Dad vs. Sea Oyster. When both partners are trying, the fertility supplements for couples guide shows how AGO Dad pairs with AGO Mom. As always, these support wellness alongside a doctor’s care — they are not a treatment for male infertility.
